About Namugongo Social Services Organisation
Who we are
Namugongo Social Services Organization Ltd (NASSO) is a Faith Based Non-Government Organisation that runs the social activities of the Focolare Movement in Uganda, this is enshrined in their spiritual mission of making the World a better place through the Gospel reading of John 17:21 “that May All be one”. NASSO was formed in 1999 and registered as an NGO in 2009 to contribute to the social wellbeing of the vulnerable in the community
NASSO is main focus is on health, nutrition and early childhood development and socioeconomic through the establishment Zia Angelina Health Centre which offers subsidised health care services to over 5,000 people in community Namugongo and its surrounding areas annually in Out/In Patient, Laboratory, Maternity, Ultra Sound, Dental, ART (AIDS/HIV) Clinic and Primary health care which includes immunization, antenatal and nutrition therapy.
In Nutrition and early childhood development, NASSO runs a nutrition centre (Arcobaleno Nutrition Centre and Nursery school) established in 2009 which responds to nutrition needs of the vulnerable children in the community ages 3 to 5years, 50 children are supported every year under the SAD program (action for new families onlus). The centre also supports children of different levels of education in primary, secondary and tertiary institutions.
In the socioeconomic aspect, NASSO focuses in economic empowerment of the youth and women in skills development through vocational trainings, NASSO partners under the Economic of Communion Uganda Business Incubator (EOCUBI) to train communities in the different regions of Uganda in start-up businesses.
NASSO also promotes environmental protection in partnership with Greening Africa together in Berlin German and Universities in Uganda, West and East Africa, with an aim of controlling carbon emission into the environment. NASSO activities are guided by its objectives outlined in the strategic plan and working together with the Government of Uganda to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The current partners of NASSO are Ministry of Health, Uganda, Uganda Catholic Medical Bureau (UCMB), AMU-Luxemburg, Greening Africa Together Net-Work and New Humanity
