
Zia Angelina Health Centre proudly announced the launch of its ambulance services, featuring a state-of-the-art vehicle obtained through a partnership between NASSO, an NGO affiliated with the Focolare Movement, and UPLANET, a Spanish NGO. This collaboration also facilitated funding for new theater equipment, aimed at enhancing maternity and referral services at the facility.
The launch event was presided over by Fr. Vincent Lubega, the parish priest of Namugongo Catholic Shrine and Chairman of the Health Management Committee at Zia Angelina. He was joined by Kira Municipality Mayor Mr. Mutebe Julius and other notable guests, including representatives from UPLANET (Fernandez, Elizabeth and Raquel), NASSO’s board chairman Mr. Legesse Hailemariam, co-chairperson Ms. Regina F.K. Mwanika and staff of NASSO.
Fr. Lubega expressed gratitude to the management and staff for their hard work and dedication, highlighting the facility’s growth over the years. He also thanked the UPLANET team for their substantial support, assuring them of Zia Angelina’s commitment to professionalism and integrity, which is evident in its progress.
Mayor Mutebe praised the development of Zia Angelina as a not-for-profit facility, commending the efforts of NASSO’s programs manager Simon Peter Okello and the center’s administrator- Rita Najjingo. He reaffirmed the municipality’s commitment to supporting Zia Angelina, emphasizing the importance of the ambulance in serving vulnerable communities.
Mr. Legesse Hailemariam, Chairman of NASSO, expressed his appreciation for the unwavering support from UPLANET representatives—Fernandez, Elizabeth, and Raquel—recognizing this achievement as a significant milestone in improving service delivery.
In response, UPLANET representatives conveyed their gratitude for the warm welcome in Uganda and acknowledged the collaborative efforts with Simon and Rita during the proposal development process. They expressed excitement at seeing their ideas come to fruition and reaffirmed their commitment to continuing work with NASSO.
The event concluded with a blessing of the ambulance by Fr. Vincent, accompanied by the staff of Zia Angelina Health Centre, as they prepared to serve the local community.
