Namugongo Social Services Organisation

Namugongo Social Services Organization Ltd (NASSO) is a Faith-Based Non-Government Organisation that runs the social activities of the Focolare Movement in Uganda. Our work is grounded in a spiritual mission to make the world a better place, inspired by the Gospel reading of John 17:21, “That all may be one.”

NASSO was founded in 1999 and formally registered as an NGO in 2009 to contribute to the social wellbeing of vulnerable people in the community. Today we operate three integrated program areas — Health, Nutrition & Early Childhood Development, and Socioeconomic Development — reaching thousands of families across Namugongo and its surrounding areas every year.

Connection to the Focolare Movement

NASSO is affiliated with the Focolare Movement — officially known as the "Work of Mary" — a global movement of spiritual and social renewal founded by Chiara Lubich in Trent, Italy in 1943. The Movement gained Catholic Church recognition in 1962 and now operates in 182 nations with approximately 2 million participants.

The Focolare Movement's central aim — promoting brotherhood and building a more united world — is the spiritual foundation of NASSO's work. This connection inspires our belief that lasting social change is possible when people are united in love and mutual care.

"May they all be one." — John 17:21
